Ingredients : Granulated onion, chopped onion, toasted onion, chives, shallots, toasted garlic, Himalayan salt.
Auntie Arwen has answered your request. We now have a counterpart for our Ultimate Garlic Insanity.. Our new Sweet Onion Harmony! When you open the jar, you get the fragrance of so many possibilities! so many options to use this blend in many of your everyday dishes as well as some new ones you would love to try! Many have described the smell out of the jar as "French onion soup!"
We use all the onion family in this blend, Onion (of course), toasted and not, shallots, chives, a touch of toasted garlic and Himalayan salt.
It's great as a base for your chicken soup or stock, for your stews, for marinades, for bread making, and Pizzas!
One of my favorite recipes is for Shepard's pie!
This recipe makes enough for 4.
Preheat your oven to 425 degrees.
In a 9x12 pan, or baking pan, place a vegetable blend of choice, (traditional mixed, Italian mixed, stir fry, whichever makes you adventurous) and drizzle a little olive oil. stir to cover well and place on the top rack for about 10 minutes tops! Take out and set aside.
In a non stick pan, brown about 1 1/2 pounds of ground beef adding about 1/8 cup of Ultimate garlic insanity, some chopped onion, a small amount (1 Tbsp) of Durango or mild red pepper or some of Auntie Arwen's Bourbon smoked Paprika. Once well browned, with a slotted spoon, place the browned beef mixture into a 9x12 baking pan or casserole pan leaving the fat and juices behind.
In a pot, make a batch of your favorite mashed potatoes..either from scratch or from box. I like to make them from scratch..
My recipe for scratch is take about 4-5 medium potatoes, wash well, Chop them to about 1" pieces leaving the skin on and boil them in enough lightly salted water to just cover them for about 10-15 minutes till tender. Drain all but 1 cup of water out of the pot to reserve.
Either with a mixer or by masher, mash the potatoes, adding as you go, 1/2 cup sour cream, 1/8 cup (or more to your taste) of Auntie Arwen's Sweet Onion Harmony, and splashes of reserved potato water till you get a real smooth blend of stiff mashed potatoes.
If you do by box, Make enough for 4+ servings, adding at the beginning with the liquids, about 1/8 cup of Auntie Arwen's Sweet Onion Harmony blend. Follow the directions on the box.
On top of the browned beef, place the roasted vegetables layering to cover. Then layer the mashed potatoes on top, leaving little peaks and valleys. Place into the oven on the second to top rack. Bake till the mashed potatoes on the very top are nicely golden and a touch crusty.
Serve with a salad, and a big spoon! I doubt there will left overs....
