When James Taylor first introduced this tea to Ceylon, (now Sri Lanka) in 1847, he never really thought that this would take off as well as it did! He thought that a simple tea bush was going to be nothing more that an ornamental bush in the botanical gardens at the time. When it took off as it did, it was considered an invasive plant, but when the locals started making a drink with the dried leaves from it, it then took off as one of the best exports of the nation!
The high elevation, humidity and temperatures gives this black tea a crisp taste with a slightly citrus nose. It's one of the favorites that are used in many fruit flavored teas and blends. On it's own, it's wonderful!
