A pink peppercorn (French: baie rose, "pink berry") is a dried berry of the shrub Schinus molle, commonly known as the Peruvian pepper tree. Because of it's light peppery flavor, it can be used in salads or fish, poultry and vegetable dishes, providing a slight aroma, a pleasant color and a crunchy texture.
Pink peppercorns can be quite dangerous to people with tree nut allergies as they are not true peppercorns, but rather aromatic berries from the cashew family.
