Ahhh, the flavors of Home made pickles! Nothing like em! It's so easy when you have the right blend of pickling spices.
Whether you are the die hard home cannier or the quick refrigerator chef, this blend makes just the right blend for that special pickle for your dish or burger!
I'm a Refrigerator chef personally and I use Lumberjack for my Refrigerator cucumber pickles that are the perfect match for that tuna sandwich during the summer, or that burger just fresh off the grill perched so temptingly on that bun!!
It's so easy, Here is my secret recipe!
Take 3 cucumbers, slice thin to medium thickness, and layer 1/3 into a 1/2 gallon size plastic container, (must have tight fitting lid).
Slice thin 2 white onions, (I like to mix it up a bit and add a red onion for color to the mix). Layer that thinly on top of the cucumber, and add a couple of peeled cloves of garlic,... Now repeat with the layering till the laying is done.
On the stove, bring to a boil, about 1-2 cups white vinegar, 3/4 cup sugar, pinch of salt, 2-3 tablespoons of Lumberjack in Heaven, Stir well.
if you want garlic pickles, add 4 cloves garlic minced to the pot.
If you want dill pickles, add about 3 table spoons of dill weed and 1 tablespoon of dill seed to the bowl.
Bring contents of pot to a boil for about 1 minute...not too much more otherwise it gets too strong for the house!
Pour onto the cucumber and onions in the container, let cool, and store in the fridge!
In about 4 days, they will be ready!!
Enjoy!
