Arnica Montana


Used in salves for pain relief caused by osteoarthritis, sore throat, surgery, and other conditions. Arnica is also used for bleeding, bruising, swelling after surgery, and other conditions. Arnica Montana is native to Europe, has long been used medicinally, but the effectiveness of this use has not been substantiated. Arnica montana contains the toxin helenalin, which can be poisonous if large amounts of the plant are eaten; contact with the plant can also cause skin irritation when in the field.
