Most of my camp would make a pilgrimage to the pavilion on Merchant’s Row with thousands of pretty glass spice jars on racks. They’d spend an hour in there picking out and agonizing over which ones to buy. Alas, I was so not a cook that I would just nod un-sagely, wander over to the booths full of knives and swords and Mongolian horse bows (drool), and miss out.
Except that I met Auntie Arwen in bardic circles around campfires in the evenings, back when I could still recite a couple hundred lines of Homer and she could recite vast amounts of Norse sagas because she is actually a scholar even more than I was in those days. One night, when it was very late and everyone was dozing off in their cups, she started singing very quietly, and I lost it when I realized she was honest to gosh singing “Does Your Chewing Gum Lose Its Flavor” in Old Norse.
Years later, after my original camp had disbanded and I was camping with someone else, I was instructed to help myself to a dipping sauce of Crazy Ivan’s and olive oil left on the camp table with a bowl of fresh bread. And it was divine.
So now I have Auntie Arwen’s to turn my mediocre cooking into better cooking. A pinch of Crazy Ivan’s and squeezed lemon sprinkled over an artichoke prior to steaming is pure yum, and Loose Moose goes on just about everything, too, except for artichokes. Today I also discovered that magic happens when one rolls slices of fresh-cut avocado in a bowl with Lemony Chicken blend.
So anyway. Auntie Arwen’s. Thank you, Auntie.

http://x-cetra.tumblr.com/post/142823879046/this-a-totally-110-unsolicited-plug-for-auntie

Thank you to this western customer for such praise and even more so for stories of around the fireplace with Arwen. She is a character, and we are glad to be in the beginnings of carrying the spices into the next generation.

Thank you to V.G. for this.

https://www.auntiearwenspices.com/customer-comments/thank-you-to-vg-for-this

https://www.auntiearwenspices.com/customer-comments/thank-you-to-vg-for-this#comments

Uncategorized

My daughter purchased the salt-free sample box at a Renaissance fair in CT.
