The Crystal Connection started out in the '80s selling quartz crystals, fossils, marbles, geological specimens, 36" chip necklaces, and other wonders of the rock persuasion. We still have these items, but since folks like to actually pat the rocks before buying them, it's kind of hard to set up a mail-order/e-business selling rocks. So in early 2001, Auntie Arwen's Spice Blends was born. I like to cook. I bake my own bread, brew my own beer, and make my own spice etc. blends. I cook with my own blends all the time.
The spice blend business started out really small, selling a few selections packed in large pill bottles at Renaissance Faires and suchlike. Things have been going better and better, and now we're online with an extensive selection of various goodies for your gustatory entertainment and edification. Auntie Arwen's Spice Blends is now in its second year, and we have (in case you've noticed) added a lot of things to our listings. Such as mortar & pestles, botanicals, tea accessories, and more in the way of hot sauces. Have fun exploring!

We hand-mix our blends in small batches, so that you get the best possible quality and freshness. And yes, we use a lot of organic herbs. We also buy our ingredients in small lots for maximum freshness.
We hand-pack most of our herbs and blends in 110 ml hexagonal clear glass jars. Some items, notably the powdered chili peppers, are packed in 45 ml hexagonal jars. A little of those puppies goes a loonnnnnngggg way!
Rather than weighing precisely 1 ounce or whatever into the jars, we prefer to simply pack each jar as full as we can. One ounce of a sugar blend is smaller in volume than one ounce of an herb or pepper blend, and "dead air space" in a spice jar isn't really "Our Thing." So you might get two and 5/17 oz of one blend in a 110 ml hex jar, and three and 3/4 oz of another blend in another, identical 110 ml jar. We're selling by volume, not weight, in these jars.
Items sold by weight are packed in reclosable plastic bags; this includes the teas, tisanes, dried chili pepper pods, chocolate-covered coffee beans, and individual spices or herbs.
